10 of Cornwall’s best Afternoon Teas
Afternoon tea is one of my favourite British food traditions and Cornwall is home to some excellent choices. Many of which are in incredible locations so your afternoon tea is teamed with wonderful views.
With it being a difficult task to pick our 10 favourites, we asked the Cornwall Creatives community where their favourites were and the results are in (in no particular order):
- Scarlet Hotel, Mawgan Porth
Recommended by @pretty_practical and @checkered_photography. This one comes as no surprise; perched on the clifftop of the breathtaking Mawgan Porth and serving up delicious food, I’ve heard good things about their afternoon teas and I’m definitely adding an afternoon tea visit to my to do list. Mannings Hotel & Restaurant, in the centre of Truro, has a real cosmopolitan vibe but a lovely relaxed feel. They serve up a selection of afternoon teas and don’t hesitate to work your way through the cocktail menu whilst you’re there 😉 - Talland Bay Hotel, Looe

I’m a big fan of dog friendly offerings (a bit dog mad some may say!) and although having only visited briefly on two occasions, I know Talland Bay are super dog friendly and that’s something that’s a real bonus for us. Their afternoon tea looks really delicious too! - Pentillie Castle, nr Saltash

A truly impressive castle and estate set in 2000 acres, it’s no wonder I’m told you must book! Pentillie have set days for their afternoon tea so check their website and book before visiting. Don’t miss having a walk around the estate. - The Cornwall Hotel & Spa, St Austell
With their new Laura Ashley Tea room, The Cornwall Hotel & Spa is a wonderful choice for afternoon tea. We’ve personally tried this one and can vouch for its deliciousness with excellent service and a lovely setting. - The Atlantic Hotel, Newquay

The Atlantic Hotel is perched in a breathtaking position overlooking Newquay bay and Fistral Beach and serve a three tier delicious afternoon tea. Great for a little bit of indulgence on a rainy day. - Mount Haven Hotel, Marazion
Visiting the Mount Haven Hotel Restaurant is a very good decision for the foodies out there. Their food is fantastic and we’re big fans. Not only are they featured in our Your Cornwall Bible, I was so impressed by their Sunday lunch I wrote all about it here. I just know their afternoon tea is going to live up to their usual high standards and can’t wait to try it myself - Tre, Pol & Pen, Lezant nr Launceston

A Cornish farm shop and kitchen rustling up a wide array of homemade goodies, every time I see a photo of their cakes I have to resist the urge to get in the car and drive there instantly! - The Headland Hotel, Newquay
A beautifully relaxed setting, very dog friendly too which we love. The Headland serve scrumptious afternoon teas whilst you watch the waves from the lounge or the terrace on a sunny day. It’s a really cosy location where you can spend hours just relaxing with a good book or a magazine.
