Days out in Cornwall: Golitha Falls

I’ve been sharing days out ideas on the Cornwall Creatives Instagram account and they have been very gratefully received by many, so its time to publish them on the blog too!

First up in the days out in Cornwall blog series is Golitha Falls, situated on Bodmin Moor but not far from Liskeard. Golitha Falls is a number of breathtaking cascades and waterfalls in a section of the River Fowey. The water is always fast flowing due to the descent of around 90 metres over the course of the falls, but if you visit after a heavy rainfall you’ll have a particularly amazing view.

But what’s a stunning walk without some refueling?! Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. When you head to Golitha Falls, set your google maps to ‘Inkie’s Smokehouse’ and park in the free car park there. Now you’ve got the perfect base to explore from and the perfect place to refuel – Inkie’s Smokehouse. If you’re a meat lover you’ll be in heaven in this rustic smokehouse cabin in the woods but don’t fret if you’re not, there’s a small (usually 2 options) selection of delicious veggie choices; the Texas Toastie (Monterey Jack cheese, tomato and jalapeños) is a personal favourite and one of the best cheese toasties around!

The milkshakes are also A-Mazing; they’re made with Moomaid of Zennor ice cream which is just delicious. And, if you can still move after your visit, Inkie’s have a new deli style shop next door selling local produce.

If you do this day out, let us know – we love to hear your thoughts!
